Wow!!!!! What a great Field Day weekend for CARC!

Special thanks to Eric (N3TVV), Glenn (KC3LBI), Diane (KD3DAM), Chris (W2CPS), Sylvia Capozzoli, and Donna (N3RXL) for organizing this event for the Carbon Amateur Radio Club despite the rainy weather to start on Saturday!

Without you and Dan (KQ4SYE), Randy (N3OWC), Goody (K3NG), Kristine (K3KTG), and Jim (KC3LW) this event wouldn't have been so successful!     👏

Special thanks to Scott (KC3LNB) for joining the CARC for Field Day and working the overnight Saturday into Sunday! 

We had several guests join the Carbon Amateur Radio Club for Field Day weekend, Nick (K9FTW), Gary (W2DNB) and two as of yet unlicensed guests Carolyn McNamara (Happy Birthday!!!! 🎂) and Matt Hendricks who both spent time operating under the W3HA club callsign. Good job to the two soon to be Technicians!

We would also like to thank PA State Rep Doyle Heffley and Rochelle representing Congressman Ryan Mackenzie for taking the time out of their busy schedules to visit with us at Penn Forest Recreational Park to learn more about Field Day and why it's so important to simulate an emergency communications event so if an actual crisis occurred Amateur Radio operators will be ready to assist with emergency communications. Thank you both for coming out!

Lastly we would like to thank the Park Advisory Board for allowing us to use the pavilion on both Saturday and Sunday to be able to participate in Field Day weekend, it is much appreciated.

We will be posting pictures soon and reporting our number of contacts and overall score. For now I think I can speak for everyone who participated, we're going to pause, catch our breath after such an exciting weekend, and look forward to celebrating America 250 on this July 4th Independence Day. 73 and thanks again to everyone!

Every June, the ARRL sponsors Field Day, when clubs and individuals set up stations at temporary locations. As we have done the past three years, the Club will set up operations in Penn Forest Recreational Park on 903 on June 27th and 28th 2026, the number of transmitters to be determined. The coordinates of our station are 40.93208° N, 75.65684° W, if you want to put it in your GPS. In 2023, we made 168 contacts and achieved a score of 620. In 2024 we made 272 contacts and our score was 918. Even more significant was the increase in participants from 7 in 2023 to 20 for 2024. In 2025 we had a good turnout and another nice weather weekend for Field Day. 2026's Field Day theme is "Amateur Radio: A National Resource." For 2026 we made 654 QSO's with 25 participants operating Class 2A for a total score of 2,646!
